The critters have taken over.

Never before have humans had such a close and complex relationship with animals. From cat influencers on social media, to hotels designed around dogs, endless sightings of the Loch Ness monster, and an increasingly vegan world, the way that we interact with wild and not-so-wild animals has changed considerably. In this show, hosts Julia McInnis and Anya Alvarez dive into stories about the most influential critters around as well as the myriad of ways that animals have taken over our lives (and vice versa). Thanks for listening!

Julia McInnis

Julia’s love of dogs started at an early age. When she was 4, she would ask her parents if the UPS man would bring her a puppy. And while UPS didn’t, her parents did. One German Shepherd and one NYC street rescue later, there was no turning back.

When not walking around NYC with her Mini Australian Shepherd, Smudge, Julia is working with a new entertainment company creating shows and podcasts, and overshares about her Alpine wine obsession on Substack.

Anya Alvarez

Anya's first loves were her childhood dogs Mookies and Snowflakes, who taught her what unconditional love was. Ever since, Anya has sought the companionship of furry animals, and rescued three dogs in her adulthood. Now, the mother of Ruthie Barker Ginsburg, Anya spends her time thinking about how she can make enough money to give the life that Ruthie that she deserves. When Anya isn't busy petting Ruthie, she's busy petting other dogs she passes on the street, producing documentaries, and spending her hard-earned money on targeted ads on Instagram.
